I recently received an endorsement from David Bragg, a seasoned and highly respected Bastrop County attorney. I am grateful for his endorsement. Please see his endorsement below.
"I would like to join many others in asking that you support Sarah Loucks in her re-election bid to continue as Bastrop County's District Clerk.
The District Clerk's office is incredibly busy and needs a steady, experienced hand at its helm. The District Clerk is responsible for four District Courts and one County Court at Law, not only managing the electronic and hard copy paper flow in their civil, criminal, family, and delinquent tax cases but also the jury system, which must get the requisite number of people from their homes to the courthouse on a date and time certain. Through her years of service, Sarah has implemented a wide range of innovations, including e-filing in civil cases in 2015, followed by e-filing in criminal cases in 2016. Sarah designed and implemented a new jury management system, which, among other things, gives potential jurors the option to respond to their summons online. Sarah’s staff always is friendly and professional. In my fifty-plus years of practicing law, I have been privileged to try cases from Lubbock to Longview and Denton to Beaumont and points in between. Although most district clerks' offices are well run, I have never seen one better than ours.
Over the next few years, Bastrop's growth is projected to be explosive. Already, as a member of the Steering Committee for our new Bastrop County Justice Center, Sarah's vast experience is proving to be an important resource. And, with an eye toward preserving Bastrop's legal history, Sarah continuously works with her records vendors to restore and digitize our old records.
Sarah also has given generously of her time and talents, serving as co-Director of the annual plays put on by the Bar Association to raise scholarship money for Bastrop County high school graduates.
Please support Sarah's re-election. I know from personal experience that every vote counts. The margin that decided a Bastrop County election a few years ago was only seventeen votes. If you are for Sarah, please contact some of your friends and ask them to support Sarah as well. "
Thank you.
